thirty bees version 1.0.6 has been released, this marks the third update of thirty bees this year. This version does not come with any new and exciting features, but it does come with some bug fixes and more security updates. Making thirty bees more stable and safer than ever before.

Some of the changes

This release consisted of 44 core commits and other various commits dealing with modules. The most notable changes are:

  • A new and improved packaging system for translations
  • Bug fixes for resetting the back office password
  • A better tracking optin for autoinstallers
  • Adding a working prefix to return slips
  • Improved CORS header settings
  • Improved VAT module handling
  • Typo / language improvements
  • Decoding JSON into an array to fix deserialization bugs

We toyed with the idea of upgrading the Smarty version in this release, but decided against it because of compatibility issues. The main reason we entertained the idea is to make the thirty bees package work with PHP 7.2 without producing any warnings or notices. In future versions we are going to have to add a switch to let people select their Smarty version. This will give us PHP 7.2 support and also increase the speed of most shops. It will however require some theme and module tweaking more than likely.

Right now as we are starting to come into the holiday season we are going to focus on bug fixes and stability issues and not adding new features. Adding new features at this time will give us a greater chance of introducing new bugs, which no one wants during the busy holiday shopping season.

This release would not be possible without all of the hard work @traumflung has done in fixing bugs and creating our automated build and translation building system. If you see him on the forum or on our slack channel, give him a thank you for all of his hard work, it is well deserved.
