Today is the day we are releasing one of the biggest modules in thirty bees history. A module that is full of new technology, technology we’d love to see more in the future. Elasticsearch is one of them. For those of you not familiar with Elasticsearch, it is a search engine that can rapidly search through your collection and provide results in milliseconds. Add to this the extremely fast frontend search we have built for the module and you have millisecond search in your store!
This module is the first crowdfunded module for thirty bees. The campaign ended in August and from then on we could work on the module. Having reached the threshold was one of my personal highlights of last year. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated and tested the module! Without you this module would not have been available and I am sure it is going to help attract a lot of professional users and grow the platform. Many many (sleepless) hours have gone into designing, developing and testing this module, way more than anticipated, but it was well worth it!
As always the module can be found on GitHub, where we host the rest of our open-source modules.
The final version sees a faster indexer, more stable search and four supported themes: the default one, Warehouse, Transformer and Panda. The external themes have the same fast search as the default community theme.
You can find the documentation on our documentation site. In the coming days we will be adding more information to the documentation. In the past couple of weeks we have provided some information about the hidden cron job mechanism, using aliases to improve SEO and building custom queries in order to build the most advanced search possible with Elasticsearch.
Can’t wait to get started? Here it is! For more information you can join us in the dedicated Elasticsearch topic on the forum, start your own or reach us via Gitter. Thanks and see you soon!
