thirty bees podcasts

2018-08-23T07:24:23-06:00May 9th, 2018|

You might have noticed that our articles all of a sudden have a player at the top of them. We have started toying around with releasing all of our future articles and blog posts as podcasts. I am sure by now you know we love technology and automation here. We are using the Amazon Polly service to automatically convert our text blog posts to audio. It doesn't sound too bad does it?   Why podcast? Why not podcast? Using Amazon Polly is incredibly cheap, for a blog our size it is actually free. It charges per character on the conversions, after [...]

Crowdfunding a new updater

2018-08-23T07:25:43-06:00May 7th, 2018|

Its time for another crowdfunding adventure. Last week we released thirty bees 1.0.4 without an updater. This is how all new releases are going to be released until we can have more time to focus on the updater.   Why do we need to crowdfund an updater? The reason is simple, time. We have all spent a lot of time working on other parts of thirty bees that needed to be fixed. The updater is one of the last pieces of the puzzle. Some of us here have spent so much time working on thirty bees that our work has started [...]

thirty bees scalability

2018-08-23T07:31:32-06:00April 29th, 2018|

At some point in the life cycle of your shop it might be wise to consider scaling your shop either vertically or horizontally. Vertical scaling is pretty straight forward, that pretty much encompasses getting a bigger server or hosting account for your site. Horizontally on the other hand is not as straight forward. Today we are primarily going to focus on horizontal scaling, the uses for it, and how it is accomplished. Why Scale Horizontally? This is a question you could be asking yourself, what is the need for this type of scaling? The main reason is shop speed. Everyone should [...]

2018-08-23T07:32:20-06:00March 30th, 2018|

In the past week the forum has gone into full meltdown with users speculating whats is going on at thirty bees. Are we going out of business? What are we working on? Where have we been. I am going to set the record straight today, give some insights, and hopefully make everything easier for the future. Neither Michael or myself are wealthy. We have to balance our time with thirty bees and our time making income to support our families. thirty bees does not make us money. In all, thirty bees does not make enough money to pay for thirty bees [...]

Using your stats

2018-08-23T07:32:29-06:00March 9th, 2018|

Have you ever wondered why stats were included in your shop? You can actually use the included stats in your shop to increase your SEO, better your marketing efforts, and drive more sales to your shop. Below are some of the stats I like to use in my client's shops to gain insight into how their customers browse their shops and what we can do better in their shops.   Pages not found This is one of my favorite stats. It lets you see all the pages that are registering 404 errors in your shop. Looking at the not found pages [...]

Server Security

2018-08-23T07:32:45-06:00March 2nd, 2018|

Security is an often overlooked aspect of e-commerce. We have seen a lot of merchants that set up their site and never think about security again. This very bad practice and can put your customer's data at risk. With new laws coming in place in the EU and with data breaches being more scrutinized around the world, security should be at the forefront of your mind. Data breaches can not only cost your company in reputation, you can also be held liable in some instances from your payment processor. Since security breaches can come from many different angles we are going to [...]
