After months of work the day is finally here. thirty bees is now stable enough for release. We would like to thank all of the community members that made this release possible. And give a big thanks to Michael Dekker who has handled most of the code and is laying out the development path we are taking. If you cannot wait to test thirty bees version 1.0.0 out you can download it here.

What have we done?

We forked the PrestaShop 1.6 codebase, then upgraded most of the code (scanning for bugs) and removed about 2000 bugs in the process. Then started with new features such as the full page cache, clean URLs and reintroduced the .htaccess editor and a robots.txt editor. In the back office menu you will now also find a tab called “Custom Code” it will allow you to add custom JavaScript and CSS. Previously you had to buy one module for every (e-commerce) tracker you wanted to add to your store. No longer with this simple, but useful feature.

Besides modifying the core we have also introduced a few new (and revamped) native modules:

  • Stripe
  • PayPal
  • MailChimp
  • Authorize.net
  • And in late February, the bees blog

All these features and modules are designed to make you spend less time on adding basic e-commerce functionality and to get you started with selling faster and have the e-commerce framework that just works for you.

Helping us grow?

There is still a lot of work that needs to be done. We need to finish integrating the new forum and finish integrating the new module / theme store as well. At the same time we need to set a roadmap for version 1.1.x to cherry pick what features we can add without breaking compatibility. If you would like to get involved now would be the perfect time, we have areas that we need help in for people of all skill levels.

Bug Reporting

This is an area that will help the community as a whole. If you encounter a bug or strange issue in thirty bees, please report it to our new bug reporting forum or GitHub. Give us as much detail as possible with the bug and include screenshots if you need to and information about what kind of server setup you are using as well. This will help us create the most stable e-commerce software in the world and that is what we all want.

Feature Requests

Our feature request area is already getting a lot of traffic, but if you have an idea for a new feature or integration please let us know. One of our main goals with thirty bees is to provide the software that users want, with the features they want for their shops. Other software packages rarely get updated with features, this is not how we operate. We want to give merchants the tools they need to effectively manager their shops and to make selling easier. If you have a feature you would like to see included please post it on our feature request board.

Fixing Bugs

If you see bugs in thirty bees and know how to fix them, you can help us by fixing the bugs as well. All you have to do is fork our repository on GitHub and make a pull request. In the pull request give as much information about the bug as possible and your fix for it.

Our aim with thirty bees is to deliver a stable e-commerce experience that has the features that merchants want. This is why feedback from merchants is so important. We are developers, we do not know all of the struggles that merchants have, but as we hear of them we can start plotting out solutions for them. With every minor version is going to come a new set of features, over time we will have amassed the most feature rich platform in the world.
